THE BIRTH OF THE SJA CHRONICLE

The idea of putting up a school paper surfaced as early as SY 2002 - 2003, but it was only this year when the said idea germinated. The Director's support gave the impetus to push through the project.

Work began in earnest in September. A competitive examination was given to interested pupils and students. Those who qualified underwent a series of workshops under the tutelage of the Principal, Mrs. Milagros F. Giron, whose expertise in campus journalism was honed through her elementary, secondary and college years as staffer of school publications.

Assignments of would-be writers were based on performance in workshops. Their positions in the staff were in line in the areas where they showed promise. All the staffers were first timers in school paper work, but they were not fazed with rejection and rewriting of articles. The experiences they gained as they grappled with intricacies of campus journalism broadened their outlook.

It is therefore with undeniable pride that the management and staffers announce the birth of the official student publication, the SJA Chronicle.
