1. STUDENT GOVERNMENT
St. Jude Academy of Dasmariñas’Student
Government S.Y. 2003-2004 had its first program,
the Newspaper and Garapa Drive, last July 2003
and lasted for about five months. We were able
to raise a total of Php. 147.00 with the help
of all high school students and cooperation of
several faculty members. Our fund drive helped
and taught students how to dispose non-biodegradable
garbage properly. With the fund drive, we also
proposed to participate in every school event
held occasionally. The purpose of this was to
develop our potentials in co-curricular activities.
The said activities were noted by our Science
teacher/Student Government Adviser, Mr. Mel Manalo,
and approved by our Principal, Prof. Rosalinda
C. Legaspi, as well as our school director, Ms.
Elsa Sico-Cayco.
In addition to this, the Student Government responsibly
took part in stage decoration and props-making
for the recently-held Foundation Day last October,
2003.

2. SCIENCE CLUB
The Science Club, with the consent of the school
director, Ms. Elsa Cayco and the Principal, the
Science Club is now its second year. One of its
accomplishments is the Science Encampment which
was held last December 14 and 15, 2003. It’s
main purpose is to develop self-discipline and
to make the students more aware of their responsibilities
to their group and to the school itself.

3. THE BIRTH OF SJA CHRONICLE
The idea of putting up a school paper surfaced
as early as SY2002-2003, but it was only this
year when the said idea germinated. The Director’s
support gave the impetus to push through the project.
Work began in earnest in September. A competitive
examination was given to interested pupils and
students. Those who qualified underwent a series
of workshops under the tutelage of the Principal,
Prof. Rosalinda C. Legaspi whose expertise in
campus journalism was honed through her elementary,
secondary and college years as staffer of school
publications.
Assignments of would-be writers were based on
performance in workshops. Their positions in the
staff were in line in the areas where they showed
promise. All the staffers were first timers in
school paper work, but they were willing and tireless
learners. They were not fazed with rejection and
rewriting of articles. The experiences they gaianed
as they grappled with intricacies of campus journalism
broadened their outlook.
It is therefore with undeniable pride that the
management and staffers announce the birth of
the official student publication, the SJA Chronicle
